The Incredible Hulk #213

Published in July 1977, The Incredible Hulk #213 arrived during a transitional period for Marvel Comics as the title continued to explore the complex psychological interplay between Bruce Banner and his monstrous alter ego. The issue was written by Len Wein, who was instrumental in defining the character's narrative direction throughout the 1970s, and featured artwork by Sal Buscema. Buscema's distinct, muscular style became synonymous with the Hulk during this era, helping to establish the visual language of the character's ongoing struggle against both external foes and his own internal volatility.

The issue functions as a mid-run installment, contributing to the broader mythos of the Bronze Age of comic books. At this time, Marvel was focused on grounding its heroes in more emotionally resonant, often tragic situations. The creative team aimed to balance explosive action sequences with the melancholy that had become a hallmark of the series. The work was generally well-received by the contemporary readership, as it maintained the high standard of continuity and character development that fans of the series had come to expect from the collaboration between Wein and Buscema.
