The Savage She-Hulk #17

Published in 1981, The Savage She-Hulk #17 arrived during the final stretch of Jennifer Walters' debut solo series. Created by Stan Lee and John Buscema in 1980, the character was initially conceived to secure Marvel's intellectual property rights following the success of the television series The Incredible Hulk. By the time this issue was released, the title was struggling to find a consistent audience, leading to its cancellation shortly thereafter.

This issue features creative contributions from writer David Anthony Kraft and artist Frank Springer. During this period, the creative team focused on integrating She-Hulk more deeply into the broader Marvel Universe to establish her autonomy from her cousin, Bruce Banner. While the series was considered a commercial disappointment at the time of its original run, it retrospectively gained significance for establishing the foundation of a character who would later become a cornerstone of Marvel's roster in the 1990s and beyond.
