Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker #133

Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker issue #133 was published in 1965 as part of the long-running Dell and later Gold Key comic book series. During this era, the comics served to extend the popularity of Lantz's theatrical animation shorts, adapting the frantic energy of the Woody Woodpecker character into a print format accessible to a younger audience.

The creative direction for these issues typically leaned on the house style of Western Publishing, which prioritized simple, slapstick-driven narratives to match the character's mischievous persona. While the artwork was often a collaborative effort by various studio artists and inkers rather than a singular auteur, these comics remain significant artifacts of the mid-century animation-to-print industrial pipeline.
