Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker #134

This issue was published in the mid-1950s as part of the long-running Walter Lantz Woody Woodpecker comic book series, which was distributed under the Dell Comics banner. During this era, Dell was the dominant publisher of licensed animation-based comics, serving as a primary medium for audiences to engage with the antics of the frantic woodpecker outside of his theatrical short films. The publication reflected the established visual language of Lantz's studio, prioritizing clear, slapstick-driven narratives suitable for a broad, younger readership.

The comic series relied on a rotating team of industry professionals who adapted the chaotic energy of the animated cartoons into a static, sequential format. While individual creative credits for specific issues of this vintage are often difficult to isolate due to the studio's house-style approach, these comics were designed to maintain brand consistency with the Lantz animation library. They were well-received by the post-war youth market, solidifying the character as a staple of mid-century American pop culture and a recurring presence on newsstands nationwide.
