Where it came from
Wonder Woman #0 was published in 1994 as part of the Zero Month event by DC Comics. Following the events of the Zero Hour: Crisis in Time crossover, DC decided to reset several titles to explore the origins of their characters or to provide new jumping-on points for readers. For Wonder Woman, this issue served as a pivotal moment during the tenure of writer and artist William Messner-Loebs, aiming to solidify the character's narrative place in the post-Crisis DC Universe.
The issue features art by Mike Deodato Jr., who was instrumental in the aesthetic shift of the title during the mid-nineties. The design and storytelling approach were intended to lean into the more dynamic, stylized, and often gritty visual language popular in the comic industry at the time. Reception was generally tied to the broader excitement surrounding the Zero Month initiative, and it remains a significant piece of Wonder Woman's mid-nineties history for collectors interested in the evolution of the character's publication arc.
