Wonder Woman #53

Wonder Woman number 53 was published in 1952 during the Golden Age of comics, a period defined by William Moulton Marston's original vision of the character as an empowering force. This issue arrived during a transitional era for the title following Marston's death in 1947, as the series began to shift toward more traditional adventure tropes while maintaining the core themes of justice and mythological inspiration established in the early 1940s.

The interior artwork of this era was primarily handled by H.G. Peter, the original artist who established the character's distinct, illustrative style. Peter’s work was characterized by a unique, slightly surreal approach that grounded the fantastical elements of the Amazonian mythos in a style that felt both classical and accessible to the post-war audience of the early 1950s.
