Where it came from
Released as part of the initial wave of the Funko Pop! Sesame Street collection, Super Grover serves as the first entry in this series, numbered 01. The character is a beloved superhero alter-ego of Grover, the furry blue monster from the long-running educational television program Sesame Street. Introduced in the 1970s, the Super Grover segment originally parodied the archetypal comic book hero, providing both humor and simple problem-solving lessons for younger viewers.
The design of the figure captures the iconic look of the character, featuring his signature fabric cape, flight goggles, and the stylized 'G' emblem on his chest. As part of Funko's broader strategy to translate classic pop culture icons into their signature vinyl aesthetic, this figure was crafted to appeal to both nostalgia-driven adult collectors and younger fans of the franchise. Upon its release, it became a central piece for Sesame Street enthusiasts, marking the beginning of a dedicated line that eventually expanded to include other classic Muppets from the series.
