Where it came from
The Coca-Cola Polar Bear, released by Funko as part of the Ad Icons Pop! series under number 59, serves as a contemporary tribute to a mascot that has represented the brand since 1922. The character gained significant cultural traction during the early 1990s, when a series of animated television commercials featuring the bears watching the Northern Lights while enjoying a bottle of Coca-Cola debuted, cementing their status as iconic winter imagery for the company.
Funko’s design for this figure centers on the classic, minimalist aesthetic of the mascot, capturing the bear in a standard sitting pose with a bottle of Coca-Cola. By distilling the character into the stylized, large-headed vinyl format characteristic of the Pop! line, the company intended to appeal to both long-time soda memorabilia collectors and modern pop culture enthusiasts who prioritize the nostalgic recognition associated with heritage branding.
