Where it came from
The Coca-Cola Polar Bear first appeared in a 1993 television campaign titled 'Northern Lights,' designed by the advertising agency Edge Creative. Created to modernize the brand's image, the character was animated using early computer-generated imagery to evoke a sense of playfulness and holiday warmth. The bear became a quintessential mascot for the company, effectively cementing Coca-Cola's long-standing association with winter aesthetics and festive cheer.
Funko released the Polar Bear with Cub figure as part of its Pop! Ad Icons series, designated as number 241. The design captures the iconic anthropomorphic aesthetic of the original commercials, featuring the bear clutching a classic glass Coca-Cola bottle. As a piece of pop culture memorabilia, it aligns with Funko’s strategy of immortalizing brand mascots, appealing to both toy collectors and those interested in the history of American commercial branding.
