Where it came from
The Coca-Cola Santa figure, numbered 173 in the Funko Pop! Ad Icons series, draws inspiration from the iconic illustrations created by Haddon Sundblom. Commissioned by the Coca-Cola Company in 1931, Sundblom’s artwork moved away from the more austere, traditional depictions of Saint Nicholas, instead establishing the warm, red-suited, and jovial grandfatherly figure that became synonymous with the brand's mid-century holiday advertising campaigns.
This specific vinyl collectible captures the familiar aesthetic of those vintage advertisements, depicting Santa Claus seated in a chair with his signature bottle of soda. Funko designed the piece to evoke a sense of holiday nostalgia, aiming to appeal to both long-time Coca-Cola memorabilia collectors and the broader demographic of pop culture enthusiasts. It was released as part of a recurring partnership between Funko and Coca-Cola, designed to translate decades of commercial history into the company's signature stylized format.
