Where it came from
Cochise was released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line in 2018, bearing the number 865. The figure depicts the titular character from the 1988 cult classic film 'Critters 2: The Main Course', the sequel to the original science-fiction horror-comedy about small, carnivorous extraterrestrials. The character design captures the distinct look of the film's practical creature effects, emphasizing the spike-covered, menacing aesthetic that fans of the franchise recognize as a hallmark of the 1980s creature-feature era.
The figure was produced during a period when Funko significantly expanded its 'Movies' category to include more obscure and genre-specific horror titles. As part of a wave of figures celebrating the Critters series, the design focuses on the chaotic, jagged silhouette of the bounty hunter alien. It received a warm reception from collectors of horror-themed memorabilia, as it filled a niche gap in the market for merchandise related to the Critters series, which had seen relatively few collectible releases since the films' initial theatrical runs.
