Where it came from
Released as part of the Pop! Movies line, this figure of Donkey celebrates the character's debut in the 2001 DreamWorks animated film, Shrek. The character was voiced by Eddie Murphy, whose performance was instrumental in defining the personality of the franchise's humor. Funko developed this figure to capture the stylized, exaggerated proportions that define the Pop! aesthetic, translating the character's expressive features into a simplified vinyl form.
The design process focused on translating Donkey’s iconic grin and distinct, lanky anatomy into the standard Pop! silhouette. As a foundational character from a critically acclaimed film that won the inaugural Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, this figure was produced to appeal to fans of the Shrek franchise and collectors of early 2000s cinematic icons. Its release was met with steady interest from those building collections centered on classic computer-animated characters.
