Hello Kitty

The Hello Kitty Pop! figure, designated as number 58 within the Sanrio series, was produced by Funko to commemorate one of the most recognizable icons in pop culture history. Sanrio first introduced Hello Kitty in 1974, designed by Yuko Shimizu as a simple, approachable character to adorn stationery and small gift items. Over the decades, the character evolved into a global phenomenon representing 'kawaii' culture, transcending its origins as a children's stationery mascot to become a sophisticated brand icon.

Funko’s design team adapted the character for their signature Pop! line by applying their characteristic aesthetic: a simplified, stylized vinyl form featuring a large, cubic head and distinct black button eyes. This iteration captures the classic look of Hello Kitty with her iconic red bow and simple profile, maintaining a minimalist design language that mirrors the original Sanrio philosophy. Since its release, the figure has served as a staple for collectors interested in the intersection of Japanese character design and contemporary Western toy culture.
