Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty was originally created by Yuko Shimizu for the Sanrio company in 1974, debuting as a modest character on a coin purse. Over the subsequent decades, the character evolved from a simple stationery motif into a global cultural phenomenon, representing the Japanese concept of kawaii, or cuteness. This specific Funko Pop! figure, number 76 in the Sanrio series, was released to commemorate the character's 50th anniversary, marking half a century of her influence on fashion, media, and pop culture.

The design of this figure adheres to Funko's signature aesthetic, which transforms the recognizable, minimalist features of Hello Kitty into a stylized, three-dimensional vinyl collectible. Funko designers aimed to preserve the character’s iconic bow and clean lines while adapting her to the standard Pop! form factor. Upon its release, the figure was met with enthusiasm from long-term Sanrio fans and toy collectors alike, serving as a celebratory tribute to the character's enduring legacy and widespread international appeal.
