Where it came from
The Katy Pop! figure, numbered 845 in the Pop! Marvel line, was released in 2021 to coincide with the theatrical debut of Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The figure was produced as part of Funko’s extensive merchandising campaign for the film, capturing the character of Katy Chen, Shang-Chi's close friend and ally, in her iconic ensemble from the movie's climax.
Designed in the signature Funko aesthetic, the figure features Katy’s distinctive hairstyle and outfit, reflecting the studio's effort to standardize character likenesses across their collectibles line. The design process focused on translating the actor Awkwafina’s likeness into the stylized, large-eyed vinyl form, aimed at fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe seeking to complete their collection of the film's ensemble cast.
