Where it came from
Nala is part of the Pop! Disney series by Funko, released to celebrate the enduring popularity of the 1994 animated classic, The Lion King. This figure, numbered 497, was designed to capture the character's likeness in Funko's signature stylized aesthetic, featuring the oversized head and simplified features that define the brand's vinyl toy line. It was released to appeal to a broad demographic of collectors who value nostalgia for 90s animation and the consistent design language of the modern collectible market.
The figure draws its visual inspiration from Nala's appearance as an adult lioness in the original film. Funko’s design team aimed to balance the character’s recognizable personality traits—such as her distinct eye shape and coat color—with the uniform structural constraints of the Pop! vinyl mold. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by fans of the franchise, finding a place in many collections as a companion piece to figures like Simba and Mufasa, and marking a significant expansion of the Disney character catalog within the Funko ecosystem.
