Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney line, the Rafiki figure (number 88) was introduced to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1994 animated classic The Lion King. As a pivotal character, the wise mandrill Rafiki serves as the spiritual guide of the film, and the figure was designed to capture his iconic stance while holding Simba aloft, a moment that remains one of the most recognizable scenes in cinematic history.
The design follows Funko's signature aesthetic, characterized by the enlarged, square-shaped head and simplified, stylized features that define the Pop! brand. Upon its arrival in the marketplace, the figure was welcomed by collectors as a faithful representation of a beloved mentor figure, effectively balancing the whimsical nature of the vinyl toy line with the gravitas associated with the character's role in the Pride Lands.
