Where it came from
Released as part of the Pop! Animation line, this figure captures Sesshomaru from the anime series Inuyasha, specifically highlighting the character after he manifests his own sword, the Bakusaiga. The figure incorporates a glow-in-the-dark finish to represent the ethereal power of his signature weapon, a design choice intended to appeal to fans of the series' supernatural aesthetic. The item was produced to expand the Funko catalog for the Inuyasha franchise, which remains a significant pillar of early 2000s anime culture.
The character design reflects Sesshomaru's iconic look, featuring his distinctive purple crescent moon marking and his flowing attire. Funko’s design team aimed to balance the stylized proportions typical of the Pop! brand with the intricate details of the character's armor and flowing hair. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by collectors who favored its unique visual effects and its representation of a climactic moment in the character's development.
