Where it came from
Sesshomaru in his true form, the Great Dog Demon, was released as part of the Funko Pop! Animation line to expand the collection based on the long-running anime series Inuyasha. This figure captures the character's transformation from the series, which was originally created by Rumiko Takahashi in the late 1990s. The design choice to depict him in his massive, formidable dog form reflects a pivotal aesthetic shift from his more common human-like appearance within the show.
The figure was designed to translate the complex, intricate details of the anime character into the stylized, vinyl-focused language of Funko. Fans of the series generally received the oversized model as a centerpiece for the set, appreciating how the sculpt managed to maintain the character's distinct markings and fierce expression despite the simplified proportions characteristic of the brand.
