Where it came from
Short Fuse was released by Funko in 2014 as part of the Pop! Movies line, specifically to tie into the theatrical release of the DreamWorks Animation film Penguins of Madagascar. The character is a member of the North Wind, an elite undercover task force introduced in the film, and the figure was produced to capitalize on the expansion of the Madagascar franchise into a standalone spin-off series.
The design of the figure reflects the standard Funko aesthetic of the era, featuring the oversized head and simplified facial features characteristic of the Pop! line. The sculptor focused on capturing the character's distinct explosive-themed aesthetic and tactical gear. While the film received mixed critical reviews, the tie-in merchandise was aimed primarily at younger fans of the franchise and collectors of the rapidly expanding Pop! catalog.
