Where it came from
Skipper was released by Funko as part of their Pop! Movies line in 2014, coinciding with the theatrical debut of the DreamWorks film Penguins of Madagascar. The figure represents the tactical, self-appointed leader of the penguin quartet, known for his military-style discipline and paranoid outlook on the world. This release was intended to capitalize on the characters' breakout success from the Madagascar franchise, which had already spanned several films and a television series.
The figure features the quintessential oversized head and simplified, stylistic facial features that define the Pop! aesthetic. Designed to capture Skipper’s stoic expression and posture, the piece adheres to the standard vinyl construction of the series. Upon its release, it was generally well-received by fans of the franchise and collectors of animation-themed vinyl figures, serving as a staple representation of the lead character within the broader line of Madagascar-themed collectibles.
