Where it came from
The Somewhere In Time Eddie Pop! figure commemorates the iconic mascot of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden as he appeared on the cover of their 1986 studio album, Somewhere in Time. The original cover art, created by long-time collaborator Derek Riggs, depicted Eddie in a futuristic, cyberpunk-inspired version of London, heavily influenced by the film Blade Runner. This aesthetic marked a departure from the band’s earlier themes, embracing sci-fi tropes, neon lighting, and high-tech weaponry that became synonymous with the band's mid-eighties creative transition.
Funko released this figure as part of the Pop! Rocks series to celebrate the enduring visual legacy of Iron Maiden’s discography. The design translates Riggs’ complex, detail-oriented painting into a stylized vinyl format, retaining signature elements like the mechanical prosthetic eye and the laser pistol. Since its introduction, the figure has been well-received by collectors for its successful capture of the album's distinct visual narrative, serving as a staple representation of the band's multi-decade evolution in both music and mascot design.
