Where it came from
Sukjai, numbered 43 in the Pop! Asia series, represents a unique fusion of global toy design and Thai cultural iconography. Produced as part of the broader Pop! Asia line, this figure was developed to expand Funko's reach into international markets, specifically capturing characters and figures iconic to Southeast Asian identity. The design translates the traditional, serene aesthetic of the Sukjai mascot—often associated with Thai tourism and welcoming hospitality—into the signature, stylized aesthetic of Funko's vinyl collectibles.
The character design aims to maintain the familiar, approachable features of the original mascot while adhering to the consistent proportions of the Pop! vinyl format. Rendered in a gold finish, this variant serves as a commemorative or limited-edition iteration of the standard release. It was received by collectors as a distinct piece of regional Pop! history, marking a period where the brand experimented with localized character licensing to build an international community of fans who value both modern design and cultural representation.
