Where it came from
Sukjai, represented here as Pop! Asia number 43, was introduced by Funko as a cultural ambassador figure designed to embody the spirit of Thai tourism. The character was originally created by the Tourism Authority of Thailand to serve as a friendly mascot for the country, symbolizing happiness and a welcoming nature. When adapted into the Pop! aesthetic, the figure retained its distinctive oversized head and simple, clean lines, aiming to bridge the gap between traditional regional branding and global vinyl toy culture.
The design of this specific iteration features Sukjai in blue shorts, a variation that highlights the character's casual and approachable aesthetic. As part of the Pop! Asia line, this figure was primarily distributed within the Southeast Asian market, catering to collectors interested in regional icons and mascot-based branding. It is widely considered a niche entry in the Funko catalog, noted for its role in representing international tourism initiatives rather than pop culture media franchises.
