Provenance

Where it came from

The Dragon's Forge, set number 70627-1, was released by The LEGO Group in 2017 as part of the Ninjago: Hands of Time story arc. The set serves as a centerpiece for the narrative, representing the mythical forge where the dragon-infused blades were crafted. It was designed to capture a complex, multi-level architectural aesthetic, blending traditional Japanese-inspired structural elements with the high-fantasy mechanical motifs characteristic of the Ninjago line.

The set was conceived by the LEGO design team to provide an interactive building experience, featuring a functional hammer mechanism and a detachable dragon figure. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the series for its generous minifigure count and the inclusion of unique translucent elements meant to simulate molten fire and metal. Its design reflects the transition period in Ninjago history, focusing on the pursuit of the Time Blades and the integration of dragon-themed play features.
