Where it came from
Released in 2018 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the LEGO minifigure, Series 18 marked a departure from previous blind-bag collections by focusing entirely on a festive party theme. The set features 17 distinct characters, including the highly sought-after 'Classic Policeman,' which served as a direct nod to the original 1978 LEGO set 600. The collection was designed to celebrate the history of the company's iconic toy architecture by blending traditional costume motifs with vibrant, modern color palettes.
The creative direction for this series emphasized playfulness and nostalgia, with characters dressed in brick-suit costumes, balloon animals, and party-themed accessories. It was received warmly by the adult fan of LEGO (AFOL) community, largely due to the inclusion of the Policeman, which was limited to one per box, making it a rare find within the series. As a sealed box, this item remains a significant archival piece, preserving the intended random distribution model that defined the Collectible Minifigures line throughout the 2010s.
