Where it came from
Released in September 2019, the Series 19 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71025) represented the nineteenth wave of the long-running blind-bagged series. This set was designed to offer a eclectic mix of original characters rather than relying on a specific licensed theme like Star Wars or Marvel. The collection features sixteen unique figures, including whimsical personalities like the Video Game Champ, the Dog Sitter, and the Pizza Costume Guy, reflecting the designers' focus on injecting humor and diverse civilian roles into the LEGO universe.
The reception for Series 19 was notably positive among the adult fan community, who appreciated the inclusion of new prints and accessory combinations, such as the ghost costume and the shower guy. By moving away from licensed intellectual property, the design team was able to experiment with more abstract and playful concepts that fit well within the standard LEGO city layout. This wave is often cited as a standout for its high level of detail and the inclusion of unique physical elements that had not appeared in previous series.
