Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars Magnet Set, identified by the product number 852085-1, was released in 2008 as part of a series of minifigure accessory packs. These sets were designed to serve as functional desk or display items, featuring magnets embedded in the feet of included LEGO minifigures that allowed them to adhere to metallic surfaces. The set included three figures from the Star Wars universe, specifically Yoda, Chewbacca, and a Kashyyyk Clone Trooper, reflecting the franchise's enduring popularity during the late 2000s.
The design of these magnets followed the established aesthetic of LEGO's Star Wars theme, which had become a cornerstone of the company's licensed catalog since its debut in 1999. By the time this set was released, LEGO had moved toward producing these character-focused packs to appeal to both younger fans and adult collectors who sought to expand their minifigure displays. While these magnets were popular at the time of their release, LEGO later transitioned to gluing the figures to their bases, making the 2008 sets notable for their removable figures.
