Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars Magnet Set 853037-1 was released around 2010 as part of a series of promotional and retail accessory packs. These sets were designed to bridge the gap between traditional building sets and functional stationery, allowing fans to display their minifigures on metallic surfaces. The set features three iconic characters from the original trilogy—Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and a Rebel Pilot—mounted on molded plastic plates equipped with magnets.
The design of these minifigures follows the updated aesthetics established by the LEGO Group for the Star Wars theme during that period. By incorporating recognizable figures into a practical household item, the manufacturer aimed to appeal to both younger fans interested in functional toys and adult collectors looking to showcase their favorite characters outside of a diorama. The magnets were well-received as an accessible entry point into the LEGO Star Wars line, serving as a subtle way to integrate the franchise into daily home life.
