Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars Magnet Set 852843-1 was released in 2009 as part of a series of promotional and thematic minifigure magnet packs. These sets were designed to allow fans to display their favorite characters on metallic surfaces, effectively bridging the gap between standard LEGO play sets and collectible office or home decor. The inclusion of these specific figures provided an accessible way to acquire popular characters without purchasing larger, more expensive retail building kits.
The set features three iconic characters from the original trilogy: Luke Skywalker in his pilot gear, Han Solo, and Princess Leia. The design reflects the aesthetic of the 2009-era LEGO Star Wars minifigure line, characterized by updated facial prints and detailed torso designs. While these magnets were initially released with the figures permanently glued to their respective bases, the set is well-regarded by collectors for the quality of the figures themselves, which remain faithful representations of the beloved cinematic archetypes.
