Where it came from
The LEGO Star Wars Magnet Set 852845-1 was released in 2009 as part of a series of promotional and retail magnet collections that featured minifigures mounted on rectangular magnetic plates. These sets were designed to serve as both decorative display pieces and functional refrigerator magnets, allowing fans to incorporate their favorite characters into their home environments. The collection reflected a period in LEGO's history where they experimented with various ways to present minifigures outside of traditional building sets.
This specific set features three iconic characters from the Star Wars universe: Luke Skywalker in his pilot gear, Han Solo, and a Rebel Pilot. The minifigures were permanently glued to their magnetic bases, a design choice that proved controversial among collectors who preferred to remove and reposition their figures. Despite this limitation, the set is recognized for its compact design and its inclusion of popular characters, serving as a nostalgic relic of the late 2000s LEGO product range.
