Arcbound Slasher

Arcbound Slasher was introduced in the 2021 Magic: The Gathering set Modern Horizons 2. It serves as a callback to the Modular mechanic, which was originally featured in the 2004 Mirrodin block. The card was designed to support artifact-centric strategies in the Modern format, specifically targeting players who utilize +1/+1 counters and creature-based synergies to overwhelm opponents in the mid-to-late game.

The artwork was illustrated by Volkan Baga, who utilized a metallic, industrial aesthetic to capture the essence of the Mirrodin plane. Baga's work focuses on the sharp, predatory geometry typical of the Arcbound creatures, emphasizing the modular design philosophy that allows the card to pass its power onto other artifact creatures once it leaves the battlefield. It was received by the player base as a solid limited utility creature, praised for its versatility in combat scenarios.
