Provenance

Where it came from

The Assassin token was released as part of the 2019 Magic: The Gathering set War of the Spark. These tokens were produced to represent creature entities summoned by various cards within the set, specifically those featuring mechanics that create tokens with specific power and toughness stats—in this case, a 1/1 black creature with deathtouch.

The artwork for this particular Assassin token was illustrated by Deruchenko Alexander. The design focuses on a shadowed, hooded figure, consistent with the thematic expectation of an assassin within the high-fantasy aesthetic of the Ravnica plane, where the War of the Spark storyline is set.
