Where it came from
Assault Suit was first introduced in the Commander 2014 set as a signature equipment card designed to facilitate a unique multiplayer dynamic. Its primary utility lies in its ability to gift a creature to an opponent while ensuring the owner retains control of the equipment itself, effectively turning a creature into a shared, temporary weapon that cannot be used to attack the player who owns the card.
The card was included in the Commander Anthology collection to provide players with a functional reprint of this popular tactical tool. The design, featuring illustrations by Mathias Kollros, leans into the industrial aesthetic of equipment cards within the Magic: The Gathering universe, emphasizing the modular and utilitarian nature of the suit as it transitions between different battlefield combatants.
