Where it came from
Battalion, card number 12 in the Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart set, was released in 1998 by Fleer/SkyBox. This set was designed as an introductory product to simplify the gameplay mechanics of the existing Marvel OverPower customizable card game, featuring simplified card layouts to help new players learn the system during a period when the trading card game market was heavily saturated.
The card features the character Battalion, the leader of the Pantheon, depicted in his classic 1990s armored appearance. Like other cards in the Jumpstart series, the design prioritized utility and readability over the complex tactical elements found in the base game's expansions, intended primarily for promotional and instructional use rather than competitive tournament play.
