Boros Garrison

Boros Garrison was originally released in the 2005 Ravnica: City of Guilds expansion, designed to represent the militaristic Boros Legion of the plane of Ravnica. As a bounce land, it was mechanically intended to provide color fixing at the cost of tempo, forcing players to return a land to their hand upon entering the battlefield. This specific version features new artwork by artist Johannes Voss, who was commissioned for the Double Masters 2022 reprint to offer a refreshed, painterly aesthetic that highlights the fortress-like nature of the garrison amidst the cityscape.

The Double Masters 2022 set was curated as a premium experience for collectors and competitive players, featuring high-quality reprints of iconic cards. Johannes Voss's contribution to the set was well-received for its rich lighting and atmospheric composition, which aligned with the set's goal of elevating classic functional cards into visually striking collector pieces. This particular variant has become a staple for players building commander decks that require red and white mana, appreciated for both its utility and its modern illustrative style.
