Boros Garrison

Boros Garrison was originally introduced in the 2005 Ravnica: City of Guilds expansion as a dual-land designed to represent the military strength of the Boros Legion. The card features a bounce mechanic, requiring players to return a land to their hand upon entering the battlefield, which was intended to balance its ability to provide two different colors of mana while also allowing players to reuse land-based utility effects. The art, created by Greg Staples, captures the imposing architecture and militaristic aesthetic of the Ravnica plane, emphasizing the guild's role as the enforcer of justice.

The Planechase version, numbered 131, was released in 2009 as part of a supplementary set designed to introduce new multiplayer formats to the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem. By including staple utility lands like the Garrison in these preconstructed decks, Wizards of the Coast aimed to provide players with accessible mana-fixing options that were thematic to the multiverse's various planes. The card's design remains a classic example of the 'Ravnica bounceland' cycle, which continues to be a staple in budget-friendly Commander deck building due to its efficiency and historical synergy.
