Boros Garrison

Boros Garrison was originally introduced in the 2005 Ravnica: City of Guilds set as part of a cycle of bouncelands, designed to provide players with a reliable mana source while rewarding them with a unique land-return utility. The card depicts the headquarters of the Boros Legion, reflecting the militaristic, red-and-white aesthetic of the guild within the sprawling urban landscape of Ravnica. Its inclusion in the 2020 Commander Legends set marked a functional reprint designed to support the drafting environment and provide players with a staple utility land for multi-color decks.

The artwork for this version, illustrated by Yeong-Hao Han, captures the imposing architecture of the garrison with the sharp, clean lines characteristic of the Boros aesthetic. The design focuses on the duality of the guild’s nature—both defensive and aggressive—and has been widely received by the community as a foundational component for Commander decks that require color fixing. By allowing players to return a land to their hand, it offers a distinct strategic advantage that has maintained its relevance across many years of shifting Magic: The Gathering gameplay.
