Champion of Wits

Champion of Wits was originally introduced in the 2017 Magic: The Gathering set Hour of Devastation, designed as a blue creature capable of filtering a player's hand through its eternalize mechanic. This particular iteration comes from the Aetherdrift Commander Tokens series, which draws upon the visual language of the Amonkhet plane, characterized by its Egyptian-inspired motifs and focus on the trial of gods. The design emphasizes the fluidity of the character, a sphinx-like scholar whose shifting form reflects the set's broader themes of memory and transformation within the multiverse.

The artwork for this card continues the legacy of the original illustration, maintaining the intricate, desert-hued aesthetic that defines the Aetherdrift series. It was curated to provide players with a thematic utility piece that bridges the gap between lore-heavy narratives and functional deck building. Upon its release, it was noted by the community for its efficient design, becoming a recurring inclusion in blue-aligned Commander decks where card advantage and graveyard synergy are prioritized.
