Chaos Warp

Chaos Warp was originally introduced in the 2011 Commander product as a defining card for the red color identity in the multiplayer format. It was designed to provide red players with a versatile, albeit unpredictable, answer to non-land permanents, reflecting the color's thematic reliance on randomness and impulse. The card quickly became a staple, valued for its ability to remove any threat while adhering to the chaotic nature of the game’s design philosophy.

The version from the 2018 Commander set maintains the core functionality of the original while featuring updated layout sensibilities consistent with the modern era of the game. The illustration focuses on the visual manifestation of entropic energy, aimed at capturing the sensation of a localized reality collapse. Upon its re-release, the card remained highly regarded by the player base for its strategic utility and its role as a quintessential tool for facilitating the unpredictable interactions that define Commander gameplay.
