Where it came from
Chitterspitter was released in 2021 as part of the Modern Horizons 2 expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed to support the Squirrel creature type, a long-running fan favorite that received significant mechanical synergy and tribal focus within this specific set. This particular printing, identified as collector number 153s, features the showcase sketch-style art treatment that became a hallmark of the set's promotional cards.
The art for this card was created by illustrator Matt Stewart, who employed a loose, conceptual sketch aesthetic intended to provide players with a glimpse into the creative process behind the final card illustration. Within the context of the Modern Horizons 2 release, this promotional treatment was well-received by collectors for its unique aesthetic shift away from the traditional, fully rendered digital paintings found on standard set cards.
