Circle of Protection: White

Circle of Protection: White, originally featured in the Alpha set of Magic: The Gathering in 1993, was reprinted for the Summer Magic set, internally referred to as Edgar. This limited print run was intended as a corrected version of the Revised Edition, but due to production errors and misprints, the majority of the stock was recalled and destroyed, rendering the surviving copies highly sought after by collectors of trading card history.

The card’s artwork, rendered by artist Quinton Hoover, exemplifies the early aesthetic of the game. Hoover was known for his distinct, flowing lines and classic fantasy style, which helped define the visual identity of the game's formative years. The card’s design reflects the core mechanic of white-aligned protection, providing players with a recurring defensive utility that has remained a staple of the color identity throughout the game's evolution.
