Dancing Scimitar

The Dancing Scimitar was released as part of the Summer Magic set, colloquially known as the Edgar set, in 1994. Produced by Wizards of the Coast, this unique print run was specifically created for the Edgars Brothers distributor to replace inventory lost in a warehouse fire. It is technically an extension of the Revised Edition, utilizing the same card frame and rules text, though it is distinguished by slightly brighter saturation and a distinct card stock quality that makes these cards easily identifiable to seasoned collectors.

The card illustration was originally commissioned during the early era of Magic: The Gathering to capture the high-fantasy aesthetic prevalent in the game's initial design philosophy. Like many pieces from the base sets, the artwork was intended to evoke a sense of magical kineticism and danger.
