Clone

The Clone card from the Summer Magic set, colloquially known as the Edgar set, occupies a unique position in the history of Magic: The Gathering. Produced in 1994, this set was a limited print run created specifically for the domestic market in Edgar, an importer based in Italy, to address regional distribution shortages. It is notable for its distinct, slightly darker color saturation compared to the Revised Edition, a byproduct of the printing processes used at the time.

The design of the card utilizes the original Jesper Myrfors illustration, which depicts a biological duplicate emerging from a vessel. The Clone is a foundational card in the game's mechanics, representing the concept of mimicry. While initially regarded as a standard functional reprint during the early years of the game, the Summer Magic version has since become a significant interest for collectors due to its scarcity and the specific printing anomalies that distinguish it from standard core sets.
