Desert Twister

Desert Twister originally debuted in the Arabian Nights expansion in 1993, a set designed to evoke the atmosphere of One Thousand and One Nights. As one of the earliest green cards capable of destroying any permanent, it provided a rare utility effect for the color that would later become a staple piece of Magic: The Gathering’s design philosophy regarding color pie limitations.

The version included in the 2017 Commander Anthology features artwork by Noah Bradley. Bradley, known for his atmospheric and sprawling landscapes, updated the visual identity of the spell to reflect a more modern aesthetic while maintaining the sense of scale implied by the original card's game-altering effect. Upon its release in the Anthology, it was well-received by players as a functional inclusion for multiplayer formats, serving as a reliable removal option for Commander decks.
