Desert Twister

Desert Twister was originally released as an uncommon sorcery in the 1994 Magic: The Gathering expansion, Legends. The card was designed to provide green with a rare and highly versatile removal effect, allowing players to destroy any permanent on the board. This functionality was notable at the time, as it gave green decks a way to deal with threats that were typically outside of the color's mechanical reach, such as creatures with protection or problematic artifacts and enchantments.

The artwork for the card was created by illustrator Susan Van Camp, who contributed several pieces to the early Magic: The Gathering sets. Her design captured the chaotic, sweeping nature of a desert storm, utilizing a vibrant and textured style that became characteristic of the game's aesthetic during its mid-nineties expansion period. The card was later featured in the 1994 Summer Magic set, also known as Edgar, a rare and notorious print run that resulted from an attempt to correct color and printing errors found in previous editions.
