Where it came from
The Dinosaur token, marked as collector number 10, was released as part of the ancillary set accompanying The Lost Caverns of Ixalan for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game in November 2023. These tokens were produced by Wizards of the Coast to represent creature permanents summoned by specific spells and abilities during gameplay, serving as a functional utility within the game's mechanics rather than as part of the collectible main set.
The visual identity of this token adheres to the vibrant, Mesoamerican-inspired aesthetic that defines the Ixalan plane. It features the characteristic reptilian design language developed by the creative team to depict the plane's unique prehistoric ecosystem. As a standard token provided in set boosters, it reflects the modern design standard of digital-first illustration meant to maintain visual clarity for players while reinforcing the flavor of the set's dinosaur-centric tribal themes.
