Angel

The Angel token from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan set, designated as collector number 2, was released by Wizards of the Coast in late 2023. It was designed to support gameplay mechanics within the set, specifically representing the token creatures summoned by cards featuring the 'create a 4/4 white Angel creature token with flying and vigilance' effect. The token serves as a physical representation of these game states, which are central to the strategy of the set's white-aligned themes.

The illustration for this token follows the established aesthetic of Ixalan, a setting heavily inspired by Mesoamerican cultures, exploration, and subterranean fantasy. The design team focused on maintaining a distinct visual continuity with the main set's art style, ensuring that the token felt integrated into the overarching narrative of deep-cavern adventure. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for its utility and the thematic consistency it brought to the table during draft and constructed play.
