Dogged Pursuit // Dogged Pursuit

Dogged Pursuit is part of the Kaldheim Art Series, a collection of cards released by Wizards of the Coast in 2021 to highlight the visual aesthetics of the Kaldheim expansion. This set draws heavy inspiration from Norse mythology, featuring a world of extreme environments, Viking-inspired clans, and cosmic themes. The series was designed to showcase the work of the artists commissioned for the main set, stripping away the game mechanics to allow the full-bleed illustrations to serve as the primary focus for collectors.

The artwork for this specific piece was crafted by illustrator Livia Prima, who has contributed numerous designs to the Magic: The Gathering universe. In creating this illustration, the goal was to capture the grim, relentless spirit of the card's namesake, balancing the atmospheric tension of the Kaldheim setting with the high-fantasy aesthetic characteristic of the franchise. Upon release, the Art Series was received warmly by enthusiasts who value the artistic depth of the game's world-building, as it provides a dedicated format for appreciating the labor and detail invested in individual card designs.
