Provenance

Where it came from

Drown in Dreams was released in 2021 as part of the Midnight Hunt Commander set for the Magic: The Gathering card game. The card serves as a blue-aligned sorcery designed to facilitate card draw and self-mill strategies, themes central to the horror-inspired Innistrad plane that the set explores. Its mechanics reflect the set's broader emphasis on graveyard interaction and the blue color identity's penchant for deep-deck manipulation.

The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Antonio José Manzanedo, who captures the somber and ethereal aesthetic characteristic of the Innistrad setting. The visual narrative emphasizes the oceanic or mystical depths implied by the name, aligning with the artistic direction for the set that favors gothic imagery and atmospheric tension. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the Commander player community for its versatility as both a draw engine and a win condition in decks focused on graveyard synergy.
